Focus!

Now that we are firmly into 2012, it's time to focus on implementing our goals for the year. Whether you have a long list of detailed resolutions or not, I bet you have some goals for yourself. Is it to lose that pesky 15 pounds? Or pay off the credit cards? How about take a class to learn something new?

Whatever it may be, let me encourage you to focus on that dream. As C. S. Lewis said, "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." The first and most important step is to have a deep desire for that goal. Second, write it down and place it on your bathroom mirror and computer screen. That way, you will see it everyday. Third, share it with someone you trust so they can help you stay focused. Lastly, journal your progress and celebrate the mini steps.

Seems like I hear that question daily and I’m nowhere near prepared! See, I dread the crowds, the commercialism and the cold weather.

However, this year I will have a positive attitude. In the midst of all the hustle and holiday preparations, I will give some priceless gifts: a genuine smile, a compliment, a warm hug, or pass up that miraculous parking space close to the door!

The Countdown Has Begun

Long days, warm breezes and lots of sunshine mean one thing -- summer is finally here! I am looking forward to backyard cookouts with family & friends, plus a trip to Europe. My family and I have been planning this trip for a long time and soon our financial sacrifices and work will pay off. Throughout the past year, we had pictures of the places we hoped to visit overseas. Whenever my kids begged for money to hangout or to buy the latest gadget, I would point to the pictures and remind them of our plan. That didn't always stop the whining but at least we all understood the goal!

Making a plan and sticking to it isn't fun. But the end result makes it all worthwhile. What plans do you have? Are you sticking to them?

I hope to share some of our adventures with you when I return home. In the meantime, I'm counting down the days until our journey begins!
