Our initial meeting lasts for approximately 45 minutes. The purpose is to determine if the two of us bond in a mutually agreeable manner. There are no forms to complete or sign. The only decision you make is whether or not to continue to the next step in the process.
Our next get together may take up to two hours, depending upon your specific circumstances. During this session, we gather all the relevant facts about your situation and become aware of the emotions that drive your financial decision making.
Our third meeting may also last between one and two hours. We present a customized, personally written plan. We thoroughly review this plan so that you understand the reasoning underlying the recommendations.
Some of the simpler recommendations, such as transferring accounts, are implemented at this point while others, such as completing insurance applications, are completed within an agreed time frame. You are given a checklist of items to complete and we agree upon a time for their scheduled completion.
From this point, I keep in touch with you regularly by phone, email or in person to review your plan and your checklist items. I also keep you abreast of external factors (for example, tax law changes) which impact your situation. You need to keep me informed of changes in your situation which may require advice.
We then meet 12 months from our last fact finding session to do a thorough review and to set a course for the upcoming 12 months. |
